Nadi Swedana Therapy

Nadi Swedana Therapy

Nadi Swedana is a type of Swedana (sudation/steam therapy) in Ayurveda where medicated steam is directed to a specific part of the body or the entire body using a tube or pipe. The steam is infused with herbal decoctions and helps open up the pores, remove toxins, and relieve stiffness, swelling, and pain.
It is generally used after Snehana (oil massage) to enhance penetration of medicated oils and improve therapeutic effects.

Types of Nadi Swedana Therapy

  1. Localized Nadi Swedana – Steam is applied only to a specific body part (e.g., knee, shoulder, back).

  2. Full-Body Nadi Swedana – Steam is directed to the whole body while the patient sits or lies comfortably.
