Patra Pinda Swedana Therapy

Patra Pinda Swedana Therapy

Patra Pinda Swedana (also known as Elakizhi in Kerala Ayurveda) is a type of swedana (sudation/sweating) therapy in Ayurveda.
It involves fomentation using boluses (poultices) of medicinal leaves, typically fried with medicinal herbs, tied in cotton cloth, and applied warm to the body.
This therapy helps in reducing pain, stiffness, and swelling, and improves blood circulation and joint mobility.

The term Patra means “leaf”, Pinda means “bolus”, and Swedana means “sweating”.
