Karna Purana is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy where warm medicated oil is gently poured into the ear canal.
The name comes from:

  • Karna = Ear

  • Purana = Filling

It is mainly done to:

  • Maintain ear health.

  • Treat ear-related problems (pain, dryness, ringing, etc.).

  • Balance Vata dosha in the head and neck region.

Types of Karna Purana Therapy

  1. Preventive Karna Purana

    • Regular practice to maintain healthy ears and prevent disorders.

  2. Therapeutic Karna Purana

    • Done to treat specific conditions such as tinnitus, ear pain, hearing issues, or dryness.

Benefits of Karna Purana Therapy

  • Relieves ear pain and discomfort.

  • Helps in tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

  • Reduces dryness and itching in the ear canal.

Typical Session

  • Preparation: 5–10 minutes (mild head massage to relax the patient).

  • Procedure: 10–15 minutes per ear (warm medicated oil is slowly poured and retained for a few minutes).

  • Post-Care: 5–10 minutes (excess oil drained, ears gently cleaned).

  • Total Time: Around 20–30 minutes per session.
